Freehold Regional students honored

Every year, each high school in Monmouth County selects one recipient from the school for the Monmouth County Guidance Director Association’s Caring Award. This award is voted on by the high school’s guidance department for a student who has volunteered their time, effort and dedication, and has made a difference in their community, according to a press release from the Freehold Regional High School District.

The district’s winners are all seniors, from Colts Neck High School, Vlad Goldfarb; from Freehold High School, David Alpaugh; from Freehold Township High School, Sonika Vatsa; from Howell High School, Patricia Gresco; from Manalapan High School, Radhika Chinni; and from Marlboro High School, Joseph Vitale.

The Monmouth County Guidance Director Association is a professional nonprofit organization of school counseling (guidance) directors from public and private schools in Monmouth County.

All of the recipients were acknowledged at the association’s 2015 Caring Award Ceremony held March 19 at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. Accompanied by their school counselor, each recipient received a $150 gift card and was eligible for a scholarship during a special drawing at the end of the program.

Each student had to create a video to show how they made a difference in the Freehold Regional High School District community. Videos may be viewed at www.mcgda.org under the “2015 Caring Award” tab.
