Freehold Borough public school students will benefit from generosity

We, the music teachers of the Freehold Borough K-8 School District, would like to thank and recognize Star and Barry Tobias for a very generous matching grant opportunity pledged to the district’s music department this past year through the Peter Jay Sharp Foundation.

The 4 to 1 grant challenged the Freehold Borough Educational Foundation to raise funds to improve our music education and instruction program for all children in the borough’s public schools.

With the hard work of Jean Holtz, Lynn Reich and the entire board of the foundation and the overwhelming generosity of the community, the foundation was able to exceed the challenge from Mr. and Mrs. Tobias.

This donation enabled us to provide instruments for children who otherwise would not be able to participate in the instrumental music program. We were also able to purchase updated equipment and instruments for our music classrooms. None of this would have been possible without this very generous donation. We have purchased 16 new string instruments – including three cellos, three violas and 10 violins, classroom xylophones, hand chimes for the choirs, and various other instruments and equipment for the students and teachers to use for many years to come.

The students could not be happier and are truly excited to embark on their musical education. Thank you for caring about the children and our community.
