LeTip of Marlboro has moved its weekly networking meeting to IHOP, Route 9 and Texas Road, Marlboro, due to a fire at the Manalapan Diner. Until further notice, the LeTip of Marlboro business networking meetings will be held every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at IHOP. Business owners in the area are welcome to attend. The Howell Chamber of Commerce will host a Breakfast Bonanza networking event from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at Kumon Learning, 4242 Route 9 south (next to Five Guys), Howell. Jersey Shore Business Leaders will host a free seminar and networking event, “Using Search Engines and Social Media,” from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Branches, 123 Monmouth Road, West Long Branch. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned food donations, and a portion of any donations made will be given to the American Cancer Society. OceanFirst Foundation recently announced the 20 local schools selected to receive $50,000 in grants through the 2010 Go Green School Grant Program. Each school will receive $2,500 to be used for special programs and projects that empower students to think about being good global citizens, greening their school and community, and ensuring that adequate clean and healthy resources exist for future generations. Among the schools receiving grants is the West Freehold School, Freehold Township.

The Goddard School, 50 Route 520, Morganville section of Marlboro, will be a drop-off location for Toys for Tots. Carol Varga, Goddard School of Morganville owner, welcomes members of the community to drop off unwrapped toys that will be distributed to needy children by Toys for Tots. Details: 732-617-8181.

“Emerging Trends in Employment Law and Legislation” will be the topic for the annual legal seminar hosted by the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources.

The seminar is slated to be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 11 at Jumping Brook Country Club, Neptune. It is sponsored and presented by attorneys in the Jackson Lewis law firm. Dr. Marc Cohen addressed The Northeast Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society Conference in Atlantic City on Oct. 23. He spoke about diabetic and venous stasis ulcers and the grafts and advanced wound care products which are available to heal them. Cohen is a wound care consultant at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He is an attending physician at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. His office is in Manalapan.

Debra Aidelman, of Freehold, has been hired as a grant writer for Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI), a federally qualified health care center with locations in Lakewood, Toms River and Stafford. Aidelman’s duties include increasing funding opportunities from such sources as local, state and federal governments, as well from private foundations; and initiating projects that help market the services and programs of OHI throughout Ocean County. With new funding, Aidelman will be able to work with OHI’s senior management team to expand and better meet the needs of its patients.

Amar Rewari, M.D., M.B.A., a researcher from the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and a resident of Marlboro, has been chosen to receive the Clinical Award in Clinical/Basic Science Research at the 52nd annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology in San Diego. CINJ is a Center of Excellence of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The Resident Clinical/Basic Science Research Award was created to promote clinical research by young scientists. It is given to the top three resident-authors of significant abstracts in physics, biology and clinical practice. Dr. Rewari, a resident at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, was selected for his submission “Prognostic value of p16 expression in laryngeal cancer patients treated with radiation.” He received the award Nov. 2.

Burlington Coat Factory, Route 9, Freehold Township, will partner with One Warm Coat, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing coats to those in need, and ABC’s “Good Morning America” for the fourth annual Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive to help local families. Those who bring gently worn coats to Burlington Coat Factory now through Jan. 17 will receive 10 percent off their purchase at the store. All donated coats in Freehold will be distributed to people in Freehold. Last year Burlington Coat Factory collected 220,000 coats (a 24 percent increase from 2009) and this year the plan is to surpass that and collect more than 250,000 coats.
