Wegmans Food Markets in Manalapan recently celebrated with student employees who earned their position on the company’s annual college scholarship recipient list. Since the program began 27 years ago, Wegmans has awarded more than 24,000 of its employees with scholarships totaling more than $77 million.
Part-time employees will receive up to $1,500 a year for four years, and full-time employees receive up to $2,200. To be eligible for the award, each student kept a high academic average, worked a minimum number of hours and maintained a good employment record.
Students involved include Andrea Brown, Mariel Jackson, Nicholas Buro, Courtney Davis, Andrew Simon, Zach Diamond, Jamie Manzo, Samantha Berber, Christopher Mattina, Sarah Sulsenti, Samantha Langner and Nichole Fratangelo.
Magna Hadley of Howell has been selected for inclusion in the 2010 “Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive and Emerging Leaders” by Diversity MBA Magazine. Hadley is the director of mandate and payment integrity for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
Hadley is part of the magazine’s third annual Top 100 listing of exceptional minority and multicultural executives who have achieved success in highly competitive corporate, government or entrepreneurial environments based on their position, the size of budget managed, scope of responsibility, and community service work. Each leader on the annual list has received an advanced educational degree. Hadley will be honored at an awards gala in Chicago in September.
Incorporated in 1996, woman-owned Global Essence Inc. is a leading source and manufacturer of premium quality ingredients for the flavor and fragrance industry. The company operates out of a warehouse in Freehold Township and recently closed on assistance from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) under the Main Street Business Assistance Program.
Global Essence received a term loan from TD Bank that included a $200,000 EDA participation and a 33.3-percent EDA guarantee to help Global Essence free up capital to fund its continued growth. The company expects to add three new positions to its staff of 11.
Kathi Novak, R.N., of Howell, was the recipient of a Circle of Excellence Award from the Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, honoring service excellence in the delivery of hospice and palliative care. Novak, who has been with the SBHPCC for eight years, works on the SBHPCC inpatient hospice and palliative care unit at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, also an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, where patients are being treated for acute symptoms that cannot be managed in another setting.
