CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has relocated its infusion therapy center from the hospital to the adjacent Donna O’Donnell, R.N., Medical Arts Building and named it for the late Jean Mehr in recognition of donations by her family and friends.

The Jean Mehr Infusion Center offers a spacious and calming atmosphere for patients and their families. The center has doubled in size from six to 12 stations to provide chemotherapy and other treatments quickly and efficiently, and includes a private procedure room.

This is the third cancer-related program announced by CentraState this year. It follows the launch of robotic surgery for prostate cancer and other procedures in May, and groundbreaking for a proton therapy treatment center — in conjunction with ProCure Cancer Centers Inc. and Princeton Radiation Oncology — in April.

When the latter opens in Somerset in 2012, it will be the only advanced cancerfighting facility of its kind in the New Jersey New York metro area, and the ninth in the United States.
