Soul Power Yoga (SPY) celebrated its grand opening in Marlboro with a ribbon cutting on Nov. 15. Representatives from Marlboro’s mayor’s office and the Economic Development Committee were on hand to welcome the new business into the community. A proclamation signed by Mayor Jonathan Hornik recognizing the day and the studio’s new entry to the Marlboro community was read and presented to SPY.

Sisters and certified yoga teachers Pooja and Cristal Sharma said they are excited to bring their passion for yoga to the Bear Brook Commons in Marlboro. In addition to developing corporate careers, both sisters have completed extensive yoga training with leading teachers in the United States and in India.

Dr. Alan Nasar, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute who is fellowship trained in joint replacement, has been named director of orthopedics of The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, 689 W. Main St., Freehold.

As director of orthopedics, Nasar will actively treat and care for any orthopedic patients from CentraState Medical Center who are at The Manor for sub-acute rehabilitation following an orthopedic-related admission at CentraStrate. The Manor is on the grounds of CentraState Medical Center.

Andrew Harris, administrator of The Manor, said Nasar is the first person with this title (orthopedic medical director) in this facility, appointed specifically for the purpose of seeing all orthopedic-related cases.
