Marlboro schools slate kindergarten registration

Daytime registration for kindergarten students entering the Marlboro Township K-8 Public Schools in September has been scheduled for March 1, 3 and 4 at the Marlboro Early Learning Center, 171 Tennent Road, from 9:15 a.m. to noon.

Evening registration will be held March 2 and 16 from 6-8:30 p.m., by appointment only, at the transportation department office.

School policy provides that all children who will become 5 years of age on or before Dec. 31, 2005, will be admitted into kindergarten for the 2005-06 school year.

The following documents are required to process the registration, and must be brought to the Learning Center at the time of registration; call the registrar’s office at (732) 972-2119 to request the proper forms.

• Child’s original birth certificate with official raised seal of the municipality in which the child was born, along with a photocopy for the school’s records.

• Immunization records indicating the month, day and year of every immunization — three doses of DPT (diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus) plus one booster given after the child’s fourth birthday; two doses of polio vaccine (OPV or IPV) plus one booster given after the child’s fourth birthday; one MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) given after the child’s first birthday plus a second dose of measles given at least one month after the first dose; three doses of hepatitis B vaccine, the first two doses given one month apart and the third dose given six months after the first dose; and one dose of the varicella vaccine (chicken pox) on or after the child’s first birthday.

• Mantoux TB test — mandatory if moving in from another state or country. The test can be no more than six months old. If a student is relocating from any other area, the test is required by law and will be determined when registering.

• Proof of a current physical. Forms can be picked up at any elementary school or at the registrar’s office in the transportation building on Lotta Burke Way in the municipal complex. The child’s doctor must complete both sides of the form, sign it and stamp it, before the child is registered.

• Name and exact mailing address of the school from which the child is transferring.

• Two proofs of residency in Marlboro (for example, valid New Jersey driver’s license, lease agreement, voter registration card, property tax bill, current utility bill, deed, HUD settlement statement, affidavit of title, or certificate of occupancy. Bring original document and a copy for the school’s records. Post office boxes are not considered legal documents of proof of residence. Parents who have entered into a contract to purchase or lease a home but have not yet moved into the township are not eligible to register their child.
