Visiting Physician Services, Eatontown, has announced that Piscataway resident Phyllis Pass has joined the firm as an advanced practice nurse. She will treat elderly and homebound patients in Middlesex, Somerset and Monmouth counties. Prior to joining Visiting Physician, Pass was an adult nurse practitioner in occupational health at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She has more than 23 years of nursing experience and is a member of the American Nurses Association, New Jersey State Nurses Association and the American Academy of Advance Practice Nurses.

J.H. Cohn LLP will host an executive women’s forum seminar, "The Power of Networking," Feb. 18 from 3-4:30 p.m. at its Eatontown office, 27 Christopher Way. Maxine Ballen, founder and president of the New Jersey Technology Council, will make the presentation. Barbara Stonnell of Marlboro, a financial planner with offices in Toms River and Holmdel, will host a weekly financial program, "Let’s Talk Money," on Saturdays at 9 a.m. on 1310 WADB AM radio beginning Feb. 21.

Stonnell, who has been a guest on Fox News Channel and Channel 12’s "New Jersey’s Talking," created and hosted "Let’s Talk Money" for eight years on 1160 WOBM AM radio. She will be joined by her daughter, Anissa Berger of Morganville, as co-host. The program is designed to address a variety of money, personal finance and investing topics in an easy-to-understand manner. The show will also occasionally feature guest professionals and celebrities.

Deborah K. Organek, certified public accountant, has joined the staff of WithumSmith+Brown (WS+B) as a manager. The Freehold resident joins WS+B with more than 15 years in public accounting. She specializes in litigation support and in serving medical practices. She earned a master’s degree in financial accounting from Seton Hall University, South Orange. Her professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, of which she serves as co-chair of the Litigation Support Committee for the Monmouth-Ocean Chapter. She is a founding member of the Freehold

Neighborhood Alliance.

The Monmouth/Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) presented the Teal Heart Award to Margery S. Davidson of Aberdeen and Eileen Shrem of Bradley Beach. The award, which recognizes outstanding service and dedication to the organization and to the chapter, was presented at the chapter’s January meeting.

Davidson, a certified public accoun­tant and owner of Davidson’s Business Development Team Inc., serves as vice president of finance and acting vice pres­ident of administration for the chapter, and as vice president of administration for the state organization. A member of NJAWBO since 1995, she has served as corporate relations chair for the chapter and has conducted several business train­ing courses through the NJAWBO Wom­en’s Business Center. She was named the NJAWBO Business Owner of the Year in 2001.

Shrem, an independent insurance planner, is president and a founding member of the Monmouth/Ocean chap­ter. She previously served as president of the state organization, and as vice presi­dent of administration, vice president of marketing and vice president of member­ship. She has been a member of NJAWBO since 1981 and was chosen the NJAWBO Business Owner of the Year in 1987.

The Monmouth/Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will hold its monthly dinner meeting Feb. 26 at Jump­ing Brook Country Club, Neptune.

The pre-meeting session will begin at 5 p.m., conducted by Anna-Maria Pittella, attorney. She will discuss issues concern­ing disability in the workplace. The din­ner speaker will be Susan Young, owner of Susan Young Media Relations Inc. She will discuss "How to Leverage the Media: The Nuts and Bolts of News and Free Press." Young has worked in broadcast news and communications in the New Jersey/New York media market for more than 20 years. She was a news director, reporter, writer and on-air anchor, and served as deputy director of then-Gov. Christie Whitman’s Office of Radio and Television in Trenton.

Dr. Michael D. Baskin, an optomet­ric physician with an office in the Pond Road Plaza, Freehold Township, recently attended the Contact Lens and Eyecare Symposium in Orlando, Fla. The four-day symposium was focused entirely on con­tact lenses, lens care and related eye-care issues. The event offered more than 100 hours of courses developed by profes­sional organizations in the contact lens field and taught by practitioners of op­tometry and ophthalmology. The keynote speaker was Story Musgrave, M.D., a former NASA astronaut and physician.

"From Hobby to Business," a work­shop for people who have an en­trepreneurial spirit but need a little mo­tivation and guidance to take the next step, will be held Feb. 21, 4-6 p.m., at El Lobo Negro Art Gallery, 519 Bangs Ave., Asbury Park. The workshop will explain what it takes to get started, how to iden­tify potential customers and how to mar­ket a business. Freehold attorney Michael B. Mangini has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition in Business Succession Planning by The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa., for successfully completing three three-credit courses in the college’s master of science in financial services de­gree curriculum. The American College is not an ABA-approved certifying entity. The program requires successful comple­tion of Business Succession Planning I and II and Business Valuation.

A graduate of Fordham University School of Law, former U.S. Army JAG (Judge Advocate General) officer and as­sistant Monmouth County prosecutor, Mangini devotes his practice to develop­ing asset protection and transfer strate­gies for his clients, their families and businesses. He is active in the community and currently serves as commander of Freehold Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4374.

The Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce awarded Mangini its 2003 Circle of Excellence Award for Commu­nity Service. Mangini hosted the "Law and More" radio program on 89.7 WPDQ from May through December 2002.
