Couple celebrates 50th anniversary

 Clarence and Claudette Cyrus Clarence and Claudette Cyrus “We Still Do!” Clarence and Claudette Cyrus of Manalapan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30.

They will renew their vows on Oct. 31 at the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center Church, Freehold, where the Rev. Dr. Andre McGuire will officiate.

Clarence and Claudette were married on Oct. 30, 1965, at the Shiloh Baptist Church, New York City, by the late Rev. Leslie Wainwright. They have resided in Manalapan for 43 years.

Clarence served in the United States Army and retired from the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority after a long career driving the “Train to the Plane” and the “A” train, among others.

Claudette retired from Foodarama Supermarkets after a long career in accounting. They have one daughter, Tracy Spencer, of Long Branch.

The length of time they have been married is an inspiration. Enduring love is possible through Christ, but Clarence and Claudette are a living example of love, forgiveness, grace and commitment.
