MANALAPAN — Raising Hope for Others will continue its mission to help individuals in need during the most difficult time in their lives.
The nonprofit organization’s eighth annual fundraiser will take place from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Gordons Corner Fire Company, 683 Tennent Road, Manalapan. The day will include a silent auction, a petting zoo and crafts for children.
Funds raised at the event will benefit Victoria Breuer, 21, of Toms River, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma when she was 20 years old. Organizers of the event said Victoria enjoys the outdoors and is always open to new experiences.
Victoria plans to continue her education and become a personal trainer/health coach for children, for individuals with special needs and for those getting back into life after cancer, the event’s planners said.
As of June 25, Victoria has been in remission for one year. Money raised at the Aug. 1 event will help to cover costs for the young woman’s treatment.
Raising Hope for Others was founded by Patrice Berman, Laura Burke and Helen Burke. Between 90 percent and 95 percent of the money raised goes directly to pay for the medical bills of recipients who benefit from fundraisers, according to Berman.
This year’s event will also support the Make a Wish Foundation, the Lustgarten Foundation, the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the Phillip Frank Memorial Scholarship and Manna House. For more information, send an email to raisinghopefor [email protected]
