MANALAPAN — The irrigation system in the Meadow Creek development off Millhurst Road was the target of thieves in a recent incident.
Police said that on June 5 at 2:25 p.m., officers responded to Village Road for a report of a theft. A representative of Premier Management Associates reported that sometime between May 4 and June 4, two copper backflow preventers were removed from the irrigation system. The stolen items are valued at $2,000. There was no damage reported to any other areas of the remaining irrigation system.
In other incidents reported by police:
On June 5 at 8:12 p.m., officers responded to the Manalapan Recreation Center, Route 522, for a report of a stolen backpack. Police were informed that unknown individuals removed a red Under Armor backpack containing an Apple iPhone 6 and sports gear. The bag and items were valued at $729. The backpack was taken from the area of the new basketball courts on the west side of the recreation center. The backpack was owned by a 19- year-old resident of Freehold Township.
On June 5 at 1:27 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Woodcrest Terrace for a house alarm. An investigation revealed that a white male driving a dark colored SUV attempted to gain entry into the house. The man was scared off when the alarm sounded.
On June 6 at 10:23 p.m., Patrolman Christopher Makwinski was dispatched to a residence on Jared Lane for a burglary alarm activation. The officer determined that an unknown individual attempted to force entry through the rear window of the residence with a pry tool, possibly a screwdriver. No one was home during the incident. A resident who arrived after the officer responded reported that a screen and window were not damaged prior to when she left the home at 5:30 p.m. It was determined that entry was not made to the residence.
On June 6 at 4:20 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Meyler responded to Marshall’s, Route 9, in reference to a theft. A female resident of Manalapan told the officer that $600 in cash was removed from her wallet as she kept it in her shopping cart while she was shopping. The victim said she left her cart unattended and when she returned to it her wallet was missing from the cart. The wallet was later located, but with $600 removed from it.
On June 25 at 4 p.m., a resident of Belmar reported that one trailer was stolen and a second trailer was burglarized sometime between June 22 and June 25. A 1992 Wells Cargo 14-foot enclosed dual axle black trailer with a large Harley Davidson decal on the front was stolen from a property on Wilson Avenue. A second trailer on the same property was burglarized and items that were inside the trailer were stolen. All of the contents inside the stolen trailer and the burglarized trailer were landscaping and construction equipment. The incident is under investigation.
