Comedic play to explore college admissions process

Ames Adamson Ames Adamson New Jersey Repertory Co. will present the world premiere of “Admit One,” a new comedy by Wendy Yondorf, through Feb. 16.

The play explores the hysteria that parents may experience when it comes to college admissions. Howard Everett is no exception, but he has a leg up as one of the wealthiest donors to the elite Giddings University, a hallowed gateway that he wants his child to attend. However, he doesn’t anticipate the difficulties he will have with an admissions officer.

“Admit One,” directed by Karen Carpenter, stars two New Jersey Repertory veterans: Ames Adamson and Catherine LeFrere.

Performances will take place at 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Reduced-price previews are at 2 and 8 p.m. Jan. 16-17 and 3 p.m. Jan. 18. Opening night, followed by a reception, is set for 8 p.m. Jan. 18.

Seats are $40; previews are $35; and opening night tickets, including the reception, are $50. Discounts are available for seniors, full-time students ages 13-25, and groups of 10 or more. New Jersey Repertory is a professional, nonprofit theater located at 179 Broadway in Long Branch.
