A family friendly sneaker convention, hosted by Street Heat Events, a division of New Jersey Sports Accessories Inc., of Manalapan, will be held on Dec. 14 at the Ivy League fieldhouse gym, 140 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan.

The Street Heat Sole and Style Expo will feature vendors from five states offering the hottest sneakers, related apparel, gear and services in more than 7,000 square feet of space.

The event will include a live sneaker auction where attendees may put their shoes on the block to see what they bring at auction. The seller sets the minimum price he will accept for his shoes and, once that price is met, the shoes sell.

Hip Hop artist K. Bellz is scheduled to appear. His music contains no explicit content or lyrics.

Sponsors include the Microsoft Store, Justin’s Barbershops and Sneakerbuck.

General admission is $15 (attendees may bring two pairs of shoes to sell or trade); V.I.P. admission is $20 (the attendee may bring three pairs of shoes to sell or trade); Elite admission is $25 (the attendee may bring in up to five pairs of shoes to sell or trade). Manasquan Savings Bank has announced that after serving on the bank’s board of directors for more than 34 years, Thomas W. Applegate retired Nov. 1. Applegate also served as chairman of the board for eight years. Applegate’s service as president of the Bay Head Building and Loan Association fostered what would come to be a legacy of involvement with Manasquan Savings Bank. Upon the group’s acquisition by the bank, Applegate was appointed director in 1979 and chairman in 1997. He will continue to advise the bank in his new designation as director emeritus.

The National Association of Health Underwriters has announced that the Monmouth Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters has received Silver Certification for the second year in a row. The chapter represents health insurance brokers and other industry professionals in Monmouth and Ocean counties. The group was recognized for this award as part of NAHU’s Chapter Certification Program, which recognizes excelling chapters throughout the calendar year.

Twist-N-Shout Party Club, 335 Route 9, Manalapan, will present “Clapton is God- Frey,” an Eric Clapton tribute show, on Nov. 23. The show will benefit local residents who are homeless and hungry.

The event is part of an ongoing series of charitable events at Twist-N-Shout that are aimed at collecting necessities for “Feed All God’s Children” of Freehold, a charitable organization that feeds the hungry and provides food and other necessities to families in need in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Carol Vargo of the Goddard School of Morganville, 50 Route 520, joined more than 350 Goddard School franchisees at the 2013 Goddard School National Franchisee Convention in Nashville, Tenn., to discuss the latest innovations and advancements for providing the highest quality, play-based educational childcare programs in a technology driven age. A highlight of the gathering was the award ceremony, where Vargo received the President’s Club Award.

Matthew Brazinski of Toms River was recently hired as branch manager at First Financial Federal Credit Union’s Freehold and Howell branches. Brazinski brings more than nine years of banking experience to First Financial and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities at the two branches, as well as business development, attending community events, increasing the loan and deposit base and the general overall success of the branch.
