Costco will open a membership warehouse in Marlboro on July 6 at 8 a.m. The 144,000-square-foot warehouse is at 12 Route 9 north, at the northeast corner of Route 9 and Texas Road. The opening celebration will include a men’s custom suiting event from Graham & Gunn, July 6-10. Members may purchase made-to-measure suits, tuxedos, dress shirts, sport coats and trousers, with savings starting at 40 percent off retail. The Marlboro warehouse will offer name-brand and private-label merchandise. Costco helps businesses save money on supplies and on items for resale, and provides a wide range of products and services for personal use as well.
This new Costco location will feature a variety of specialty departments, including a gas station, fresh bakery, fresh meat, fresh produce, fresh deli, rotisserie chicken, optical department with independent doctor of optometry, one-hour photo, pharmacy, tire center, hearing aid center and a food court. Members also can save on Costco services such as travel and auto buying.
The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce will present “The Big Picture for Small Businesses” as part of its “Summer School for Small Businesses” program. Small business owners seeking a new perspective, new strategies, ideas and systems are invited to attend.

Free Motion Rehabilitation Center and Weight Loss and Wellness have teamed up with Mike Greene of RKA to offer personal fitness training to their clients and to the public. The goal, in addition to rehabilitating sports injuries and chronic pain, is to educate the community in functional training and increase overall health and fitness in a step to overcome the growing obesity rates. CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has awarded six nurses with its highest honor that an RN or LPN can receive — the Nursing Excellence Award. With overall employment of truck drivers and driver/sales workers expected to increase by 8 percent over the 2006-16 decade, Smith and Solomon recently held the grand opening of their newest commercial driving school onAirport Road in Lakewood. The first school of its kind for Smith and Solomon in Ocean County will help foster job opportunities for residents of Ocean and Monmouth counties in a field that is in high demand, according to a press release.
The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, “U.S. Occupational Outlook 2008-2009” anticipated more than 258,000 jobs for truck drivers arising during the 10-year period 2006-16.
Joining Smith and Solomon Chief Operating Officer John Diab at the grand opening were state Sen. Robert Singer, state Assemblyman David Rible and Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller.
“Trucking is the economic engine that drives commerce in this country and we are proud of our role in creating real job opportunities for commercial drivers throughout the region,” Diab said.
Programs available at the school will include the CDLA: With Passenger Endorsement license that spans 200 hours of instruction over five weeks, covering tractor trailers and buses.
A four-week CDL A: Tractor-Trailer training program covering 160 hours of instruction and a CDL B: Straight Truck Training Course spanning three weeks and 120 hours will also be offered.
