Thomas Michael Romano

Mr. Romano, 59, of Manalapan, died May 31 at home. Born in Newark, he had lived in Manalapan for the past 21 years. Mr. Romano was vice president of Universal Vending Management, Westfield, for nine years. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. He was a member of the Hazmat team of Monmouth County, a volunteer coach for Manalapan Recreational Hockey for 16 years, and a former coach of the roller hockey team of St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia. He was president of the Automobile Merchandising Council of New Jersey and was chosen as its Man of the Year. Mr. Romano is survived by his wife of 29 years, Suzanne, and two sons, Christopher and Thomas, both at home. Friends and family may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 north, Manalapan. A funeral liturgy will be offered Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 186 Gordons Corner Road. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro.

Helen L. Forman

Mrs. Forman, 75, of Freehold Township, died May 31 at home. Born in Swannanoa, N.C., she had lived in Colts Neck before moving to Freehold Township 46 years ago. Mrs. Forman was an art teacher in the Freehold Regional High School District from 1964 until her retirement in 1991. She also was a special education art teacher and a supporter of the theater arts in Freehold Township High School. A 1947 graduate of Freehold High School, she earned a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in education from Monmouth University, West Long Branch. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association. Mrs. Forman was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Forman, in 1959. Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert M. and Debby Forman, and Craig H. and June Forman, all of Freehold Township, Tipton R. and Laurie Forman of Barnegat, and John L. Forman of Portland, Maine; a daughter, Jillian L. Forman of Rexville, N.Y.; two brothers, Tipton Randolph of Freehold Township and George Randolph of Black Mountain, N.C.; two sisters, June Henderson of Ashville, N.C., and Barbara Trent of Dover, Del.; and three grandchildren. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold, Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Bowman, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold, officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

Margaret A. McFadden

Mrs. McFadden, 65, of Howell, died May 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, she had resided in Roselle and Spotswood before moving to Howell 20 years ago. She was employed for 25 years by Foodarama Supermarkets Inc., Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Donald; and a daughter, Suzanne McFadden of Tuckerton. Cremation was private. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth A. Voisine

Mrs. Voisine, 65, of Howell, died May 17 at Kensington Manor, Toms River. Born in Neptune Township, she was raised in the Morganville section of Marlboro. She had resided in Howell for the past 30 years and was a member of Ardena Baptist Church, Howell. Prior to retiring in December, she was a school bus driver for the Freehold Regional High School District for 31 years. Mrs. Voisine was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, Clayton J. Voisine. Surviving are two sons, Clayton J. Voisine Jr. of Beach Haven and William J. Voisine of Toms River; two daughters, Linda Gordon of Jackson and Tracey Evans of Texas; two brothers, Peter Hayes of Florida and Rodney Hayes of Sea Bright; two sisters, Helen Bousquit of Connecticut and Janet Rupp of Howell; and nine grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. Graveside services were at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

Maxine Andrea Shell

Mrs. Shell, 57, of Freehold, died May 19 at New York University Medical Center, New York City. Born and raised in Passaic, she had lived in Freehold for the past 27 years. A 1970 graduate of The Ohio State University, Columbus, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in education and was employed by the Freehold Regional High School District for 25 years as an English teacher and a substitute teacher. Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Steven Shell; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ari and Allison Shell of Canton, Conn., and Martin Shell of New York City and his girlfriend, Melissa Fisher. Funeral services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, followed by interment at Congregation Agudath Achim Cemetery, Freehold.

Harold H. Rose

Mr. Rose, 80, of Freehold Township, died May 20 at home. Born in Stonington, Conn., he had lived in the Freehold area for the past 25 years. Prior to retiring in 1983, he was a metallurgist for Phelps Dodge Inc., New York City. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Colts Neck, where he served for many years as an usher for Saturday evening Masses. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Spotswood. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Veronica Walencis Rose; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Ann Arlene of Freehold Township; a brother, Billy Rose of Arizona; three sisters, Phyllis of Illinois, Jean of Rhode Island and Joan of California; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Harold Robert Brown

Mr. Brown, who was known as “Bobby” and “Chico,” died May 22 at Applegarth Care Center, Monroe. Born in Neptune Township, he had lived in Freehold all his life. A graduate of Court Street School and Freehold High School, both in Freehold Borough, he was a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service, Freehold, for 13 years. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was predeceased by his father, Ernest Brown; three brothers, Leonard, Ernest and Lawrence Brown; and two sisters, Patricia and Anne. Surviving are a son, Eric, of Englishtown; his mother, Vivian Ruffin Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Constance Brown of Freehold; an uncle, Stewart Ruffin; an aunt, Geraldine Williams; a close friend, Willie Mae Jones of East Windsor; and many nieces, nephews and other friends. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

Kenneth John Jacobsen

Mr. Jacobsen, 60, of Jackson, died May 22 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had resided in Staten Island, N.Y., and in Manalapan for 16 years before moving to Jackson four months ago. He was employed by St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, as a computer supervisor. Mr. Jacobsen was a Vietnam War veteran. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Leona Memberg Jacobsen; a son, Erik Jacobsen of Lyndhurst; a daughter, Amy Jacobsen, at home; and a brother, Alfred Jacobsen of Manchester. A funeral service was held at Marlboro Memorial Mausoleum, with Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, in charge of arrangements. Dorothy May Yarrington

Miss Yarrington, 81, of Freehold died May 22 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Worchester, Mass., she had been a resident of Freehold since 1929. Miss Yarrington was a member of the First Baptist Church, Freehold. Surviving are two brothers, Hugh W. Yarrington of Silver Spring, Md., and Warren E. Yarrington of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Magee of Lansdale, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township, with the Rev. William L. Frederickson officiating. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
