The Raritan Valley YMCA Riptide Swim Team will hold tryouts for the 2015- 16 season at Brookside Swim Club, Washington Avenue, Milltown, July 12, July 26 and Aug. 2.

Ages 10 and under will try out from 9-10 a.m. and ages 11-18 from 10-11 a.m. (age as of Dec. 1, 2015).

Rutgers Football will give away free tickets at the boardwalks along many New Jersey Shore towns during the month of July.

Rutgers coaches, student-athletes, band, cheerleaders and mascot will be on hand as well.

The stops are July 9 at Brigantine, Ocean City, Atlantic City and Ventnor; July 16 at Ortley Beach, Seaside Heights, Lavallette and Seaside Park; and July 23 at Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Sea Girt and Spring Lake.

Freehold Township Parks and Recreation Commission is presenting the Lou Piccola Baseball Academy July 27-31 at Michael J. Tighe Park, Field No. 4.

Ages 7-9 will have a half-day session (9 a.m.-12 p.m.), and those ages 10-13 go all day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost of the academy is $115 for half-day and $165 for the full day.

Lou Piccola, the former president of the Freehold Township Little League and former head coach of the Xaverian High School varsity team and head coach in the Collegiate League, is the academy director.

Those attending the academy should bring a glove, bat and water (cleats are optional).

Tighe Park is located off Georgia Road in Freehold Township.

Howell High School’s Kaitlyn Buck will join her former Rebels bowling teammates Michelle Gulino and Kristin Natoli at Felician College. Buck signed her National Letter of Intent during the recent school year.

Buck averaged 186 this past season, as the Rebels captured their sixth consecutive Monmouth County Championship.

Natoli and Gulino were recently named to the 2014-15 National Tenpin Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-Academic Team.

As teammates at Howell, Natoli, Gulino and Buck led the Rebels to Shore Conference division and tournament, county and state sectional championships.

The Central Jersey Braves are looking to fill a roster spot for the upcoming 11U Ocean Breeze Ripken Week-Long Experience Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, July 26-31.
