Steven Sewald & Company, an accounting firm in Marlboro, announced the recent hire of Jennifer Fagan, who is a certified public accountant with more than 15 years of experience in public and private accounting.

Freehold Township periodontist Dr. Robert A. Hersh was honored at the New Jersey Dental Association’s annual meeting. The NJDA Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award was granted to Dr. Hersh in recognition of his many years of dedicated service to organized dentistry and to the dental profession.

CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, is now offering sports nutrition consultations for anyone interested in optimizing their health and workouts and improving their competitive edge. The oneon one consultations are by appointment only. Clients can meet with registered dietitians who will personalize dietary solutions based on the client’s needs. They will learn about better techniques to lose weight and improve endurance. Consultations are also available for learning about proper hydration, heart-healthy eating, exercise practices, weight management and metabolic analysis. Each year the Freehold chapter of LeTip, a business to business networking group, presents scholarships to promote networking ideals and to help Monmouth County students fund their college education. Chapter members recently presented three winners with their scholarships. Allison Cooper graduated from Communications High School in Wall Township and will be going to Wagner College. She won first place and received $2,000. Casey Perkins graduated from Freehold High School in Freehold Borough and will be attending the College of William and Mary. She received a $1,000 scholarship. Brittany Rizzo graduated from Manalapan High School. She will be attending Penn State University and received a $500 scholarship.

The Freehold Chapter is the largest LeTip chapter in the country, with 105 members. The 2012 scholarship application will be posted at www.freeholdletip.com and will be found in the Forms section.

Temple Shaari Emeth Early Learning Center, 400 Craig Road, Manalapan, has announced that it will be using interactive Smart Tables. Pupils, age 2 through kindergarten, will be able to use the first multitouch, multi-user interactive table in the industry. The school’s staff will be trained on these tables.

Brian G. Tarpey of Freehold secured a $1,000 grant from the MDRT Foundation which will underwrite camperships for disadvantaged children to attend Kateri Day Camp in Marlboro. The day camp is a program of Collier Youth Services. Collier is a Monmouth County nonprofit that operates educational, recreational and residential programs for at-risk youth. Tarpey, an eightyear MDRT member, is an active supporter of Collier Youth Services and nominated and endorsed the application for the grant. The MDRT Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, an association of financial professionals.

The public is invited to a free “Lunch and Learn” Healthcare IT seminar hosted by Bits “N” Bytes America, a total technology solutions provider in Manalapan. The event will be held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, Freehold Township, on Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Highlights of this event include:

 EHR Basics: Understanding electronic health records, meaningful use, regulatory requirements, governmental incentives, responsibilities of the physician.

Starbucks has partnered with Sylvia’s Children to help raise funds for children in Africa. Sylvia’s Children is conducting a clothing drive at 11 Starbucks locations in New Jersey through Nov. 13. Participating locations are in Middletown, Marlboro, Matawan, Manalapan, Edison, Union, Westfield, East Brunswick, New Brunswick, North Brunswick, and Piscataway.

Items being accepted for the drive include all types of usable and wearable clothing for all seasons, shoes, handbags, belts, small hard and soft toys, including Beanie Babies, stuffed animals, and rag dolls; linens, draperies, comforters and small rugs.

Funds raised from the clothing drive will be used to finance a health clinic for children at the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary and Day Care School in Mbiriizi, Uganda. Since April 2010 when Sylvia’s Children started partnering with Starbucks, they have raised more than $11,000.
