A free two-part yoga workshop specifically designed for cancer survivors will be offered at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, at 6 p.m. June 9 and 16.
Certified yoga instructor Shuchi Gokhale, who trained at the Live Strong Institute in NewYork City, will lead the workshops. The exercise is appropriate for cancer survivors both during and after cancer treatments and will address their physical needs and side effects through a gentle and balanced yoga practice in a safe and supportive environment.
These sessions will include breath work and meditation for calming and centering, slow stretches with breath awareness for releasing the lymphatic congestion, and healing and balancing yoga sequences for revitalizing and restoring the body.
The workshops are open to all ages and stages, and no prior yoga experience is needed.
Participants should bring a yoga mat (if participants cannot sit on the floor, a chair can be used) and two blankets or thick towels.
A doctor’s note is required. Register at the library in advance by calling 732-431- 7222.
