NYC tragedy is why Freehold council deserves support

I hope the tragedy in the Bronx has proven to the people of Freehold Borough the necessity of supporting our Borough Council members and their efforts in the prevention of illegal housing in our town. Twenty-two people, all illegal immigrants, living in a single-family dwelling was disastrous for them, and potentially for their neighbors. This is everyday life in Freehold.

As citizens of Freehold, we want to make sure we can stop this from becoming another tragedy in our town.

We are constantly under fire for our illegal immigrant problems. The surrounding big-money towns who look down on the “element” in Freehold – contractors, landscapers making the problem worse by coming into our town, encouraging loitering, by hiring them as day laborers, as well as household help.

Our schools are in dire straits. Legal taxpaying friends and neighbors will be losing their jobs due to the financial burden of illegal immigrants in our schools. Who is going to file a lawsuit on their behalf? I can tell you who, no one. Who is going to give them free medical care, free services, WIC or food stamps? Again, no one will.

I say to all the supporters of breaking laws, stop feeling sorry for the drains on the school system and start feeling sorry for our children. They are the ones who will suffer the most in the long run.
