Volunteers needed to help victims of violence

The Freehold Township Police Department in collaboration with 180, Turning Lives Around, Hazlet, is recruiting additional volunteers for its existing domestic violence crisis response team.

The volunteers will work with the police to provide support, information and referrals at the time of crisis. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, and submit to background investigations and fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory training course, to be held over a four-week period, is required and will be provided to successful applicants. Prior knowledge of domestic violence is not required. Bilingual capability is a plus.
