Monmouth Crossing Assisted Living, Freehold Township, has received an Assisted Living Best Practice Award from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. It is the second consecutive year that the facility has received the award.

The state’s “Best Practices” program recognizes and shares information about what works well in assisted living residences so that other providers can use these showcased programs to improve quality. Monmouth Crossing was recognized this year for its in-service education for staff, residents and families, and was one of only two winners of the statewide award. Last year, the first in which the award was given, Monmouth Crossing was the only recipient and was recognized for its falls prevention program, the only category judged.

Monmouth Crossing’s in-service education program covers a range of resident and safety issues, including an orientation process for new residents and their families, Alzheimer’s disease, sensitivity training and fire safety.

Best Practice Award winners are selected by a panel of professionals including representatives from the Department of Health and Senior Services, N.J. Hospital Association, Health Care Association of New Jersey, N.J. Association for Nonprofit Homes for the Aging, and other professionals in the field of aging.

Monmouth Crossing is one of three senior living communities operated by CentraState Healthcare System.
