The New Jersey School Public Relations Association (NJSPRA) is seeking new members. Membership is open to those who are involved with communications, publications and media relations in New Jersey public, parochial or private schools.

The association hosts four professional workshops each school year and serves as a resource for school public relations practitioners. Recent workshops have covered varied subjects including crisis communications, press relations, budgets and bond referenda, Web site design and the No Child Left Behind Act. The group also provides tip sheets on various communications subjects and has knowledgeable people on call to provide professional advice on any communications subject.

Mia Ventura, a Jazzercise instructor who has been offering Jazzercise classes in the Freehold area, will now bring classes to Manalapan. Open house sessions will be held at two Manalapan locations: Sept. 13, 15 and 17 at 9:30 a.m., and Sept. 18 at 8:30 a.m., at the Twist n’ Shout Party Club, Route 9 south, Summerton Plaza; and Sept. 21 and 23 at 7 p.m. at Clark Mills School, Gordons Corner Road.

The open house will include information on the Jazzercise program and a free workout. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. There will be door prizes, giveaways and introductory offers.

The 60-minute Jazzercise class includes a warm-up, high-energy aerobic routines, muscle toning, and a cool-down stretch segment. The program combines elements of dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kick-boxing and other activities to create programs for people of any age and fitness level.

Baby-sitting will be available at the Twist n’ Shout Party Club during 9:30 a.m. classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There will also be Saturday classes at 8:30 a.m. The 7 p.m. classes at Clark Mills School are sponsored by the Manalapan Parks and Recreation.

The locally owned Mr. Rooter announced the grand opening of its new headquarters at 1720 Ginesi Drive, Freehold Township. The celebration was held Aug. 28. Construction of the new 11,000-square-foot, two-story office and warehouse began in December and will serve as headquarters for the local Mr. Rooter. The building will also house a training facility to conduct New Jersey seminars on the latest technologies in the field.

Mr. Rooter is a full-service plumbing and drain-cleaning service to the residential and commercial markets, with more than 200 locations in the United States and nearly 100 international locations. It is a subsidiary of The Dwyer Group Inc., a franchise holding company.

The Freehold Township franchise was established in 1995 by Andrew and Sheryl August. The company began as a small business operating from their home and has grown to include a work force of more than 45 employees. The building will be dedicated to Andrew August’s father, Larry, former owner of August Plumbing.

Marie Miczak, Ph.D., a certified nutritional consultant and health and fitness author, will present "Low Carb Meals to Go" Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Monmouth County Park System’s Dorbrook Visitors Center, Colts Neck. Rutgers Mini-MBA Business Essentials Certificate program will return to Freehold Township Sept. 28-Dec. 14. The program is designed for professionals and managers seeking a deeper under­standing of business and a better under­standing of how various functional areas of organizations relate to one another, and for those considering an MBA.

The 12-week program features focused learning experiences around 12 subject ar­eas, including business strategy, finance, marketing, law, ethics and organizational change. The sessions are delivered in three-hour modules and are delivered in a hands-on format designed for practition­ers. Participants work on case studies or read assigned articles and explore them in the classroom.

Registrations are being accepted for the Freehold program as well as the sessions in Piscataway, Newark and Morristown. The Mini-MBA will be held on 12 Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. The fee is $2,495 and includes tuition and materials.
