FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — "It’s really a wonderful holiday gift for our family — a nice wrap-up to the holidays. We’ve never won anything like this before."
Finding the words to describe the feeling of winning an $18,000 Yamaha piano became a bit difficult for Miriam Teeter and her family after receiving the good news in a phone call from J. Michael Diehl, president of the Freehold Music Center, Route 9.
For the past month, Freehold Music Center and Yamaha Corp. of America have been accepting entries for the giveaway of a Yamaha DGT2 GranTouch Disklavier piano. The Yamaha DGT2 is a state-of-the-art, digital, player grand piano, according to a press release.
Freehold Music Center was chosen by Yamaha Corp. of America as one of 58 special Yamaha dealers to give away the Yamaha DGT2 GranTouch Disklavier piano in a nationwide promotion. From more than 300 dealers in the United States, Yamaha chose Freehold Music Center as one of the 58 dealers because of its long-standing reputation as a service- and education-oriented Yamaha piano dealer.
The contest winner was picked by Freehold Township Committeewoman Dorothy Avallone, director of the Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs, and current chair of the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce.
According to the press release, the Yamaha GranTouch piano is a unique professional instrument in that it is a digital piano that contains the actual working wooden mechanical interior parts of an acoustic piano, in addition to its capability to produce superb and realistic piano sound.
The DGT2 GranTouch is also a Disklavier computerized player piano with the ability to play pre-recorded midi files from the Yamaha PianoSoft collection in floppy disk and CD formats.
Additionally, it has the ability to faithfully record and reproduce a player’s performance.
The software enables the listener to hear performances by artists such as Elton John, Chick Corea, David Benoit, and many more. The CD format features live performances with vocals, including live concert recordings by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Christopher Cross, Dave Koz, Bette Midler, and many more.
