Monmouth University’s Chris Keller and Ed Skowronski capped stellar indoor seasons by winning All-East honors at the IC4A Championships.
Skowronski (Raritan) and Keller (Matawan) finished fifth and seventh in the weight throw to garner All-East recognition. Skowronski reached 60-11½ and Keller, 60-6.
Keller added a second Big East certificate in the shot put where his 55-2¼ placed him fourth.
Michele Losey (Piscataway) was the third Hawk to win All-East with her eighth place in the women’s 400 meters (56.70).
The IC4A’swere held in theReggie Lewis Athletic Center in BostonMarch 8-9.
Both Keller and Skowronski were outstanding throughout the 2007-08 season picking up a number of wins for the Hawks. Keller was named the Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Year three times during the season.
Each picked up a win at the Northeast Conference Championships. Keller won the shot put (56-4) while Skowronski took the gold in the weight throw (63-9½).
Competing in both the shot put and the weight throw, Keller and Skowronski were the front and center of a very strong Hawk throwing contingent that included Thomas Ciccoli, Larry Lundy and Shawn Sabo.
The high point of Monmouth’s throwing domination was a one-two-three finish at the NEC in the weight throw with Lundy finishing third behind Skowronski and Keller.
Monmouth’s men were second at the NEC to Sacred Heart, 138-124.5. The other Hawk to win an NEC title wasWilliam Doherty in the 800 meters (1:56.25).
Monmouth’s women, however, did capture the NEC title in Landover. Losey was the lone Hawk to win an individual title crossing the line first in the 400 in 56.81. She also anchored the 4×400 relay team to a first place (3:53.94) as Monmouth relied on its depth to beat defending champion Long Island University, 123-112.5.

The Hawks will transition quickly to the outdoor season beginning Saturday with the Monmouth season opener on campus in West Long Branch. On April 4-5, the Hawks travel to Princeton University for the Sam Howell Invitational.
The outdoor NEC Championships are May 3-4 at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pa. Princeton University is hosting the IC4A meet May 16-18.
