Josephs to chair Planning Board

MARLBORO – Larry Josephs, one of the Planning Board’s new members, has been elected by his fellowmembers to chair the panel during 2008. The board held its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 16.

BoardmembersGerald Bergh andMark Barenburg will retain their seats as the vice chairman and secretary, respectively.

In addition to Josephs, the board also has new members Rohit Gupta, Syed Hussein and Jennifer Bejar. Mayor Jonathan Hornik and Councilman Frank LaRocca, both of whomtook office earlier thismonth, are also serving on the board.

During the reorganization meeting the board appointed new professionals.

Michael Herbert will replace Dennis Collins as the attorney. Richard Cramer of T&M Associates will replace Jennifer Beahmof Birdsall Engineering as the planner and Ernie Peters of CMEAssociateswill replace Jeff Staiger of Remington, Vernick and Vena as the board’s engineer.

CME Associates entered into a contract with Marlboro on Jan. 1 to provide engineering services as the township engineer.

The board reinstated a citizens voice portion of itsmeeting. During citizens voice any member of the public may address any planning issue to the board members and the professionals. Individual applications being heard on the agenda will continue to have their own public comment portion.

Three applications received new dates for hearings. Morello Properties, an application proposing eight single-family homes and a detention basin on a 20-acre parcel of land about 400 feet behind Yellowbrook Road, is now scheduled to be heard Feb. 20.

The continuation of a hearing on a new HinduAmerican Temple and Cultural Center on Wooleytown Road is scheduled to be heard on Feb. 6. The application proposes the construction of a 32,596-square-foot two-story temple and multipurpose hall, along with a separate 15,170-square-foot two-story building for priests’ quarters.

Also on Feb. 6 will be a hearing on the estate of VanMater.According to a previous board agenda, a four-lot subdivision with a cul-de-sac for access to all four lots is being proposed on the property,which is on School Road West, between Prescott and Ardmore roads.
