Mr. Holtz, 87, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 22, 2007, in the home that he had built. Born in the Wickatunk section of Marlboro, he had resided in Wickatunk before moving to Freehold Township 55 years ago. Mr. Holtz was a retired bricklayer and a former president of International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local No. 42, Keyport, and International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local No. 8, Asbury Park. Following his retirement, he was a delivery person for Hendrickson’s Florist, Freehold Township. Mr. Holtz was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. He was also an exempt member of the Morganville Independent Fire Company, Morganville section of Marlboro. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Higgins Holtz, in 2003. Surviving are two sons, Christopher J. Holtz and Craig J. Holtz, both of Freehold Township; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ellen H. Kenny of Freehold Township, and Eileen H. and Philip Beesley of Spring Lake Heights; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
