Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, recently named West Long Branch resident Joseph Settembre its Volunteer of the Year, for his valuable contributions to the food services department.

Settembre has contributed more than 2,200 hours to the medical center since joining its Volunteer Service Department in 1996, helping out in the hospital’s kitchen during the year, and especially on holidays.

"We appreciate the time he donates to our department as we strive to provide the best service for patients, visitors and staff," said Laura Dolan, food services operations manager. "He truly is an asset to Monmouth Medical Center."

Settembre was honored at a ceremony, along with 54 other Monmouth volunteers, who serve in 75 of the 90 hospital departments while providing nearly 30,500 hours of service last year.

Monmouth volunteers John Morning, a junior at Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft section of Middletown, and Zigrida Alite, a senior at Red Bank Catholic High School, were also honored with The Helen Herrmann Outstanding Youth Award for Community Service from the Volunteer Center of Monmouth County.

Additionally, Long Branch resident Anna Matuch received an honorable mention for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program’s Volunteer of the Year.
