Items for ‘Operation Shoebox’ sought

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The Old Country Buffet, Pond Road shopping center, Route 9 north, has announced that it is taking part in "Operation Shoebox" to help American soldiers in Iraq and Kuwait by sending them donated supplies.

Day-to-day supplies are especially needed, including antibacterial waterless soap, baby wipes, batteries (AA are needed the most), calamine lotion, lip balm, eye drops, hand sanitizer, nonperishable snacks, magazines or books, crossword puzzles, playing cards, nail clippers, hair brushes and combs, deodorant, cold-water wash (such as Woolite), Ramen noodles, foot powder, sun screen, sunglasses, tampons, toilet paper, toothpaste, Tylenol (individual packets), writing paper, pens and postage, saline nasal spray, resealable plastic baggies, cotton balls, disposable razors, beef jerky and Slim Jim snacks, fly swatters, candy (heat resistant), tissues, cereal in small boxes, instant coffee, and powdered creamer.
