FREEHOLD — Two borough women were arrested and charged with using fake Social Security cards — and both were also driving taxis in town.
In one incident, Marisela Pelaez, 30, of South Street, was arrested on Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Park Avenue. She was charged for a violation that occurred on Nov. 4, supplying false information when she applied for a taxi driver’s license, according to Freehold Borough Police Capt. Michael DiAiso. Pelaez was charged with forgery, unsworn falsification and theft of identity.
According to the captain, Pelaez applied for a taxi license using a fake Social Security card and a different name. Following her arrest, Pelaez was released on $5,000 bail.
In a second incident, Celene Acevedo Galduera, 28, also of South Street, was charged with possession of a fake Social Security card and producing a fictitious identity. She was arrested on Union Avenue at 11 p.m. Jan. 26 while she was operating a taxi cab.
DiAiso said Galduera was arrested during a motor vehicle stop. She was processed and later released on $2,500 bail.
The captain said this is not the first incident in which a taxi driver has been operating a cab on borough streets using false identification.
