Inspired Life Studios in Long Branch is hosting the opening reception for “Dia de Los Muertos,” an art show inspired by the “Day of the Dead” celebrations of Latin cultures.
“Bird in Flight” The opening reception will take place 7:30-11:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, at the yoga studio/art gallery, 560 Broadway No. 202, at the corner of Pearl Street where parking is available as well as at the municipal lot accessible from Branchport Avenue.
In addition to the exhibit, there will be live music by a grouping of local eclectic musicians and performance artists. This event is free and open to the public and suitable for all ages.
Curator/owner Christine Murphy has put together this show not only as a nod to Halloween (Oct. 31), All Saints Day (Nov. 2) and All Souls Day (Nov. 2), but as celebration of life by honoring the beauty, mystery and seductive quality that can be found in the macabre.
“Speedboat River” Artists showing will include George Morales of 1st Class Tattoo in Long Branch, Nicholas Penta of Dead Seagull Art & Apparel, Dan Castellano of Tattoo Nation, Dylan Wise, resident artist at SICA, and Murphy.
