RYKA – Take Fitness to Heart, presented by Lady Foot Locker and Health Magazine, is a national race series dedicated to educating women about the importance of health and fitness, with a focus on heart disease, the number one killer of women. Studies have shown that women can dramatically reduce their risk of heart disease by regular exercise. Legendary marathoner, author, and sports commentator Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially complete the Boston Marathon, will appear at the event.
A portion of the entry fees will be donated to the Women’s Heart Foundation of Trenton, a coalition of nurse executives, civic leaders, community health directors, member hospitals, partners, providers and corporate sponsors who joined to combat women’s heart disease by implementing an integrated model that promotes wellness, early intervention and excellence of care for women.
