Long Branch might want to rethink road work on Ocean Boulevard

Regarding "Ocean Blvd. changes are long overdue," Dec. 20 Atlanticville, what are traffic planners here smoking? Shrinking Ocean Boulevard may or may not be a good idea — without turn lanes, one can foresee lots of crawling, snarling traffic jams, particularly with all the new building in the West End area. This surely won’t make the oceanfront seem more accessible.

Regardless, wouldn’t the time and money be better spent on the growing mess that is Monmouth Road between Route 36 and Cedar Avenue?

The lack of turn lanes at Wall Street and Parker Road (especially now that Commerce Bank is drawing much more traffic) are creating ever-greater jams.  Pretty soon nobody will be able to get into or out of West End at all.

Pedestrian friendliness is great, but lots of people drive, and nothing’s going to change that in the foreseeable future.
