FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Freehold Township Police Explorers will conduct a car wash fundraiser from 3:30-6 p.m. June 25 at the 33 East car wash, Route 33.

The Police Explorers are a group of young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 who are learning different aspects of law enforcement, according to Freehold Township Police Officer Andrew Gal-aydick, who is one of the group’s advisers.

The other advisers are Sgt. Andrew Maroney and Police Officer Daniel Valentine.

The Police Explorers is an affiliate program of the Boy Scouts of America.

The 16 young adults who are members of the Freehold Township post learn about different aspects of the job, such as patrol, firearms, first aid and domestic violence, Galaydick said.

The Police Explorers gain hands-on experience by working with police officers at municipal functions, assisting with jobs such as crowd control.

Many Police Explorers go on to careers in law enforcement. Galaydick said he is a product of a Police Explorers post in Edison, Middlesex County.

“It definitely gave me good insight into the field of law enforcement,” the officer said.

Galaydick said Jack Aaronson, the owner of the 33 East car wash, has been very supportive of the Police Explorers.

Aaronson allowed the post to conduct a car wash at his business last year and he is doing the same once more. On behalf of the Police Explorers, Galaydick thanked Aaronson for his support and invited everyone to stop by this week’s car wash.
