Program to discuss Jews who fled to China in ’38

Rabbi Susman of Congregation Kol Am, Freehold, will offer insight into the history of the thousands of Jews who fled from Germany and Austria to China in 1938 and ’39, when he presents a program May 2 at the senior center, 116 Jackson Mills Road.

The program will include a David Weiskopf video featuring the rabbi’s interview with survivor Ilse Bernstein, who lived in Shanghai for 10 years.

A Chinese dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m., with the video and lecture scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for the dinner, and preregistration is required by April 28; call (732) 294-2029.
