FREEHOLD — At least 25 vehicles belonging to residents were the targets of graffiti on April 25.
According to Freehold Borough police Capt. Michael DiAiso, a call came in to police headquarters at 2:15 a.m. reporting damage to a vehicle that was parked on Ann Street.
After investigating that incident, officers patrolled the area and observed at least a dozen more vehicles that had been spray-painted in the vicinity of Ann Street on West George Street, Yard Avenue, Stokes Street and Waverly Place, the captain said.
DiAiso said the vehicles had been sprayed with black, blue or white paint in various random designs such as “lines, squiggles or letters.” Some vehicles had profanity painted on them, he said.
The captain said another 15 reports of vehicles being spray-painted were called in to police headquarters later in the day. Additional spray-painted cars were reported on Jerseyville and Hull avenues.
DiAiso said the spray-painting was most likely done overnight and that many people waited until they returned from their work day to report the damage.
Officers Steve Cicero, Wendy Papp and Rich Schwerthoffer investigated the incidents. The reported damage to the vehicles is under investigation, according to DiAiso.
