The borough of Freehold will sponsor a holiday party for senior citizens Dec. 6 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Freehold Elks Lodge, East Main Street, Freehold. The event is open only to borough residents age 62 and older and reservations are required. Caregivers will be provided. For reservations and information, call (732) 462-1259 after 9:30 a.m.

Temple Rodeph Torah

to host art auction

Temple Rodeph Torah, Marlboro, will host an auction of fine art in conjunction with Ross Galleries Dec. 6, with previews beginning at 7 p.m. and the auction at 8 p.m. The event will feature original oils, serigraphs, watercolors, animation cells, etchings and lithographs. All artwork will be custom framed.

The auction will be held at the temple, Mohawk Drive. Admission is $10 at the door, $8 in advance. Refreshments will be served, and there will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. For reservations and information, call the temple office, (732) 308-0055.

Candlelight vigil set at

Marlboro H.S. tonight

The students of the award-winning Marlboro High School ADAPT (Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Prevention Team) along with the Marlboro Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse will present their annual candlelight vigil against drunk driving on Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. in front of Marlboro High School, Route 79. The ceremony will include guest speakers, poetry readings and a presentation by students titled, "Why Am I Against Drinking and Driving?" Police, fire and first aid personnel will participate and a "crash car" will be displayed. The public is invited to attend the vigil, which is intended to remind the community to have a safe holiday season.

Christmas story set

on church grounds

A Drive Through the Christmas Story, an outdoor display of life-size Bible scenes including live characters, animals, holiday music and scripture, will be presented from Nov. 28-Dec. 7 on the circular grounds of Sayre Woods Bible Church, Route 9 south, Old Bridge.

The 10-scene story will be on display from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, and 5-9:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

A special tape and cassette player will enable participants to go on a guided tour of the Christmas story from the convenience of their cars. Admission is free. Free-will donations of canned food for the Old Bridge Food Bank will be accepted. For more information, call the church at (732) 679-5989, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

‘Journey to Bethlehem’

Dec. 5-7 at Old Tennent

The annual "Journey to Bethlehem" drive-through Christmas event on the grounds of Old Tennent Church, Manalapan, will be held Dec. 5, 6 and 7 from 6-9:30 p.m. on the church grounds. The free event, which is presented by Old Tennent Presbyterian Church and St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, also in Manalapan, will feature living scenes with live animals, viewed from within the convenience of the visitor’s own car. ‘Blue Christmas’ service

The First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown will hold its annual "Blue Christmas" memorial service for those who have experienced a loss. The service will be a special time for remembering loved ones and for healing the pain of grief and loss. All are welcome. Colts Neck Library

will host art show

Colts Neck Friends of the Library will present its fourth annual art show and sale Dec. 5-7 at the library, located in the municipal complex on Cedar Drive. The event will feature original art, photography and sculpture from more than 20 Colts Neck artists The preview party will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m., offering a quaint evening with a holiday touch. Joel Siegel to lecture

The Jewish Cultural Series will present television personality Joel Siegel at Monmouth Reform Temple, 332 Hance Ave., Tinton Falls, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. The lecture is open to the public. A six-time Emmy Award winner, Siegel has been a member of the "Good Morning America" television program since 1981. His lecture will include subjects of general interest as well as his latest book "Lessons for Dylan." Admission at the door will be $18; complimentary refreshments will be served after the lecture. ‘Santa’s Train’ to arrive

in Freehold Dec. 13

The Freehold Borough Policemen’s Benevolent Association No. 159 will conduct the sixth annual "Santa Train" event, Dec. 13 from noon to 2 p.m., at the Freehold Bus Station, Main and Throckmorton streets. The event is held in conjunction with Conrail, with members from Conrail donating their time and money to run the train. Members of PBA 159 will be on hand to distribute a photo with Santa and a toy to all children in attendance. The event is open to the community.
