FREEHOLD — It wasn’t a good week for Chawn Givens.
Givens, 18, of Monmouth Avenue, was arrested on June 10, June 14 and June 15 by Freehold Borough police and charged with a variety of offenses.
On June 10, Givens was charged with simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, following an incident on Jackson Street at 4:25 p.m. Police Capt. Michael DiAiso said Givens was observed carrying a tree limb and chasing a Hudson Street resident. The victim was transported to CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, for treatment. Givens was processed and released.
On June 14 at 6:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of violence on Avenue A. DiAiso said Givens was reportedly arguing with a woman in the street. He was reported to have been beating on the rear window of a vehicle and broke the glass, shattering the windshield all over his 8-month-old son who was secured in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle.
Givens was charged with harassment, interference with transportation, and endangerment of a child. He was taken to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Town-ship, in default of $20,000 bail.
Givens and police came in contact again at 7 p.m. June 15 on Haley Street when officers charged him with possession of under 50 grams of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be marijuana. He was processed and released.
