FREEHOLD — Police have charged a 62-year-old borough man with attempted murder following a 9 p.m. June 8 incident at the Rug Mill Towers apartment building, Jackson Street.
According to police Capt. Michael DiAiso, Ricardo Oria Ramon was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon (a knife).
DiAiso said police were called to the scene by a resident of the building. When Patrolman Keith Bailey arrived, he found a woman bleeding profusely from what appeared to be stab wounds, DiAiso said.
The 51-year-old female victim, who lives with Ramon at the Rug Mill Towers, was taken to Jersey Shore University Med-ical Center, Neptune, where she underwent surgery to repair wounds to her face, shoulder and left arm caused by the stabbing.
DiAiso said Ramon presented himself at police headquarters in the Rug Mill Towers almost immediately after the stabbing occurred. He was arrested, charged and taken to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, and held on $150,000 bail.
DiAiso said the victim was reported as having lost a great deal of blood, but was in stable condition as of 7 a.m. June 9.
