FREEHOLD — The Freehold Borough and Freehold Township Joint Investigative Team (JIT) executed a search warrant at a Haley Street home at 7:45 p.m. May 15 that led to the seizure of marijuana plants, a substance believed to be heroin and distribution paraphernalia.
According to Freehold Borough police Capt. Michael DiAiso, Haley Street residents Carlos Catagena, 25, and Ziyadah Perry, 25, were each charged with possession of heroin and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, maintaining a drug facility and manufacturing controlled dangerous substances.
According to DiAiso, 11 marijuana plants were seized during the execution of the search warrant. Burned marijuana cigarettes were also found, he said.
Perry was taken to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in default of $35,000 bail. Catagena was also charged with resisting arrest with force, possession of a police scanner and obstruction of the administration of the law. He was placed in the county jail in default of $50,000 bail.
Also charged with obstruction of the administration of the law in the same incident was Albert Thomas, 60, of Freehold Township.
DiAiso said Thomas continually attempted to enter the secured area during the execution of the warrant after repeatedly being told by police to stop.
