The Veterans Council of Monroe and Jamesburg plans a Dec. 6 bus trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., to deliver gifts to wounded servicemen and servicewomen at the hospital.
Among the items requested are: weightlifting gloves; squishy pillows; stamps, paper, envelopes; clear plastic storage boxes; carry-on luggage; DVDs, iPods, handheld games; gift cards; watches; jackets and pajamas for men and women; razors, shampoo, conditioner; socks or boxer shorts for men and women; slippers; breakaway long pants (no small sizes). Cash will not be accepted.
Collection boxes have been set up in the Monroe Township Municipal Building, 1 Municipal Plaza, and Jamesburg Borough Hall, 131 Perrineville Road.
