Flagship collection box

A flag collection box that was made by Girl Scouts Karalyn Hoover (l) and Sophia Moccio has been installed on East Brunswick municipal grounds to be used for the collection of damaged and tattered flags. With the assistance of Boy Scout leader Anthony Buccigrossi and project advisor Alyssa Moccio, the girls determined that although there are flag retirement ceremonies held by veteran associations and Scouting groups, there wasn’t a community-wide ceremony in East Brunswick. Their Silver Award initiative “Project America” involved planning a flag retirement ceremony. This will be held 7 p.m. June 14 at the municipal complex. Rain date is June 15 at noon.
