The Monroe U12 Lady Falcons notched their first win in the North Brunswick league this past weekend with a 26-22 win over West Windsor Plainsboro. After trailing at halftime, Monroe played solid defense and outscored their opponents 18-10 in the second half. Kylie Davidson (10 points) and Samantha Clark (eight points) lead the scoring, while Jena Pritzlaff (four points), Keriann Manziano (two points) and Christina Felice (two points) chipped in on the offensive effort. Fallon Regan pulled down three rebounds, and Alexa Carini had three steals. Kristen Junquet provided some key defensive minutes.

In action last week, Monroe fell to a bigger North Brunswick team, 38-35. Monroe held a 10-point lead midway through the second half but wore down against the tough North Brunswick man defense. Scoring came from Jackie Racine, Davidson, Pritzlaff, Clark, Carini, Manziano and Felice. Monroe is now 1-2 in the North Brunswick League.

The Falcons fell to the East Brunswick eighth-grade squad 38-25 in North Brunswick League action on Sunday. Samantha Clark led the scoring with eight points. Kylie Davidson and Christina Felice each added six points, while Jena Pritzlaff netted five points. Keriann Manziano pulled down six rebounds, and Fallon Regan grabbed two rebounds. Alexa Carini (three steals) and Kristen Junquet (two rebounds) each provided key defensive minutes. Monroe is now 1-3 in league play and faces off against the East Brunswick seventh-grade team on Sunday.

Madison Park Girls Softball League will be holding final in-person registration for the upcoming season on Jan. 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Old Bridge Library, and Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Madison Park Little League Fieldhouse, located on Cheesequake Road behind the Madison Park Firehouse. Ages 5-17 by June 30 are eligible. There is a $65 registration fee, ($50 T-ball), with a $100 maximum family plan. No work bond. New Players need copy of birth certificate. Spotswood Youth Baseball League will hold its final spring registration on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Spotswood Municipal Building. All children from age 5 through age 16 as of April 30 are eligible. There will be four divisions – Rookies (age 5 and 6), Minors (ages 7, 8 and 9), Majors (ages 10, 11 and 12) and Seniors (ages 13-16). All new players are required to provide a photocopy of their birth certificate. Anyone wishing to manage or coach must provide a copy of their Rutgers Safety Certification Card and complete a background check. There will be no late registration accepted. The Monroe Township Soccer Club (MTSC) will be holding two more in-person registrations for the spring season at the Recreation Center, 120 Monmouth Road, on the following dates Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 7-9 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Central Jersey Vipers, an 18U Old Bridge-based girls fastpitch softball travel team, is looking for pitchers for the 2007 softball season. The Vipers had a very successful 2006 season, winning and placing in several tournaments as a 16U team and will be moving up to 18U for the 2007 season. The Dayton Titans, a U10 baseball team based in South Brunswick, is looking for one or two A-plus players with pitching experience for the 2007 season. The Titans, winners of multiple league championships and tournaments in 2006, have an exciting schedule for 2007 that includes several central New Jersey leagues, as well as tournaments in other areas of New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.
