Suburban Artist Guild (SAG) members will draw from a clothed, live model at their next meeting set for 2 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.
SAG member Andy Skislak will conduct a variety of 2-minute action poses and variable-time seated poses.
Prior to drawing from the live model, Skislak will present information on how to practice drawing "stick" figures, facial structure and significant musculature that contributes to the overall shape of the human figure.
Generalized skull features will be highlighted with a view toward developing a recognizable individual face or a caricature.
Photos from newspapers, advertisements, fashion magazines and instruction books will be displayed to present human musculature.
Guild members should bring a 4B or 6B pencil or a woodless pencil.
SAG is an informal organization of artists in the Central New Jersey area. Its members meet on the second Friday of each month to learn from demonstrations by recognized artists, to exchange ideas and establish camaraderie and to have their paintings critiqued.
