Jaclyn F. Mayer and Ryan M. Jones Donna M. Jones and Frank E. Jones of South River are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Ryan M. Jones, to Jaclyn F. Mayer, daughter of Dr. Marc Mayer and Wendy A. Mayer of Edison.
Ms. Mayer is a graduate of Penn State University, State College, Pennsylvania, and received her master’s degree from Kean University, Union. She is a history teacher at John F. Kennedy High School, Woodbridge, and is an adjunct professor at Kean University, Union.
Mr. Jones is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Delaware Law School, Wilmington, Delaware. He is an attorney with Gluck- Walrath LLP, Trenton, and is currently running for a seat on the Borough Council in South River.
The two met 1,000 days ago in New Brunswick and share a love of cooking and community involvement.
The proposal took place in Seattle during what Ms. Mayer believed to be a contest prize won from ChefSteps.com, their source of cooking inspiration and a major influence in how their teamwork in the kitchen gave way to a loving partnership outside of it. After being interviewed on video about their story and culinary stories, the ChefSteps crew prepared them a dinner at which Ryan proposed.
