MONROE — Police have arrested three men in connection with the Jan. 11 armed robbery of a 19-year-old township woman.
Agifa Constable, 29, of Perth Amboy, Joseph Bodall, 19, of Jamesburg, and Charles Sharp, 22, of Monroe, were charged in the robbery. Agifa was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Bodall and Sharp were charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
The woman told police that she had arrived at a friend’s house on Buckelew Avenue at 10:15 p.m. Jan. 11 and, while still seated in her car, an unknown suspect entered the vehicle from the passenger side. The suspect grabbed her purse, and when she resisted, he pulled out a handgun and began striking her in the head and face with it, she told police. He then placed the barrel of the gun in her mouth before taking the purse and exiting the vehicle, fleeing on foot in the direction of Englishtown. The victim was treated at a hospital and released.
Police would not release details about each suspect’s alleged role in the robbery.
The suspects, who were arrested Feb. 3 and 4, were lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick. Constable is being held on $75,000 bail, Bodall on $50,000 bail and Sharp on $25,000 bail, with the full amount required in all three cases.
