John J. Koval

Mr. Koval, 86, of Monroe Township, died Dec. 23, 2011, at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born and raised in Carteret, he had resided there for 62 years and had lived in Monroe Township since 2001. Mr. Koval retired on May 31, 1986, from the Amerada Hess Corp., Sewaren section of Woodbridge, as a senior vice president of quality control. He was also a manager at Amsco, Carteret, for 25 years. He was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Monroe Township, and an elected member of the Carteret Board of Education. He was predeceased by three siblings, Ann Barney, Helen Petrach and Joseph Koval. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary (Giesler) Koval; three daughters and a sonin law, Maryanne Koval of Southampton, Pa., Linda Koval of Monroe Township, and Karen and Peter Dontas of Plainsboro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph O’Reilly of Carteret, Irene Janusz of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge and Dorothy Morrissey of Ocean Grove; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Monroe Township, followed by a funeral liturgy at Nativity of Our Lord Church. Cremation was private.
