Lucy L. Pace, 98, went home to the Lord on July 2, 2015.
Lucy was born in Red Bank to Felix and Concetta Ziporo, and after her marriage to Joseph F. Pace, resided in Little Silver for over 70 years. She has enjoyed her last four years at Sea Brook Continuing Care, Tinton Falls, especially playing bingo.
Lucy was a lifetime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, where she met and married her spouse, Joseph. During World War II, while her husband served in the Navy, she raised her infant and toddler daughters alone.
While a mother and homemaker, she was active in the Little Silver Ladies Auxiliary, the PTA and the Girl Scouts, serving in leadership roles in those activities for many years. She also worked for the local election board as a judge and as a volunteer at Riverview Hospital, Red Bank, for over 25 years.
Lucy enjoyed competing in golf, bowling and duplicate bridge, but her devotion to the needs and welfare of her family always came first.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Pace, in 2006; her parents; and her siblings, Mary Cristafaro, Marion Ianetta, Dominic Ziporo and Rocco Ziporo.
She is survived by her three loving children and their spouses, Lucy and Cranston Van Bloem of Oceanport; Mildred and Steven Donahue of Reno, Nevada; and Joseph and Linda Pace of Little Silver; her grandchildren, Kathlane Pavlick; Kristine Hollinger; Karen Timothy; Stephen, Darren, Jonathan and Brendon Donahue; and Chelsea and Shannon Pace; as well as nine greatgrandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
