Mr. Root, 83, of Staten Island, N.Y., died Nov. 7, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. A son, Douglas, died in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Anne Babien Root; two daughters, Gail Steier, and her husband, Robert, of East Brunswick and Roberta Trent, and her husband, Robert, of Brunswick, Ga.; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
