• “Hometown Savings 2005” Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Spotswood Public Library, 548 Main St. Books contain discount coupons from many local retailers and large, chain merchants in Spotswood, East Brunswick, South River, Milltown, Monroe, Old Bridge. • Cell phone collection and empty inkjet or laser computer cartridge collection, both sponsored by the Spotswood High School Band. Old cell phones will be sent to women’s shelters and to troops stationed overseas. Phones need not be in working condition or have chargers or batteries. Collection boxes are located at the high school, Memorial School and KrisKell Creations Hair Salon, all Summerhill Road; Schoenly School, Kane Avenue; the Spotswood Public Library, Spotswood Post Office and Kearny Bank, all Main Street. The band continues to participate in a Kash for Kids fund-raising program that pays the group $2 for each empty inkjet or laser computer cartridge collected.
