MILLTOWN – More than a dozen borough streets could receive mini-makeovers if the Borough Council approves a bond ordinance next month.
The bond ordinance will allow the borough to use $256,000 to mill and pave 16 streets. The money is a hodgepodge of leftover proceeds from various bond ordinances, officials said. The proceeds were not needed for their original purpose, according to officials, and can be used for other projects.
The Public Works Department and borough officials selected those roads most in need of repairs, Councilman Mike Skarzynski said. The roads slated for improvements are:
+ Donald Drive, from Pershing Avenue to Albert Avenue.
+ East Foch Avenue, from South Main Street to end, including court.
+ Pinewood Drive, from Elmwood Drive to Carina Drive.
+ North Moetz, from Washington Avenue to end of old basketball court.
+ Applewood Court, entire length.
+ Peachwood Court, entire length.
+ Leonard Road, Blueberry Drive to Harkins Road.
+ South Wilson Avenue, from Washington Avenue to Harkins Road.
+ Centre Street, from North Wilson Avenue to Janet Court.
+ Ochs Avenue, from Upper Nelson to Lower Nelson.
+ Kohlhepp Avenue, from Clay Street to North Brook Drive.
+ Baier Avenue, from Clay Street to North Brook Drive.
+ North Brook Drive, from Pardun Avenue to Kearney Drive.
+ Clay Street, from Lawrence Avenue to the mark.
+ West Lawrence Avenue, from North Main Street to end of Clay Street intersection.
+ Garver Avenue, from North Main Street to Highland Drive.
A public hearing on the road improvements will be held at the Sept. 11 council meeting at Borough Hall, Washington Avenue. Due to a memorial service scheduled for that night for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the council’s agenda meeting will begin at 8 p.m., followed immediately by the regular meeting.
